Deepavali (divali): Dipavali the festival of lights, this is one of the main festival celebrated all over India, and Indians all over the world, Hindu's mainly performs this. This festival has so much of importance, this festival is celebrated by lightning small oil diyas and decorating them by placing them all around the house, garden and the on compound walls, and also explosion of fireworks. This festival comes 19 days after dusherra, in the beginning of winter season. This festival comes on the day of amavasya there is a belief that by lightning the diyas we are removing the darkness around us. There are so many stories behind this festival, in north the people call it as Lakshmi pooja. They start all the new ventures on this day and perform the pooja of Lakshmi in a big way in their workplaces (business) and crack the fire works, some people believe that this festival is celebrated because the lord Sri Rama has returned to Auyodhya on this day from his Aranyavasam along with his wife Seetha and Lakshmana after defeating Ravana. So the fire works are cracked on his victory. In south people believe that this festival is celebrated on the occasion of Narakasura vadha. In that times there was a rakshas called Narakasura who used create so many troubles to the people, so Sri Krishna along with his wife defeated him in the battle and killed him, the people were happy and lightened their houses and cracked the fireworks in their return to show their happiness. This festival is a very interesting for children's, as thy get new cloths and fire works. On this occasion people distribute sweets, after cracking the fire works they eat sweets (it is a tradition) so mainly in Andhra Pradesh region the following special sweets are prepared. Bobbatlu, Payasam or kheer.
